Swedish summer make all bad thoughts go away
Oh how I miss Swedish summer. Eating out in the garden late in the evening, reading book after book on the dock and making a big mess out of fresh strawberries. If I close my eyes I can smell it; birch trees in bloom, cool sea water and sunny days that never turn into nights.

How to stay calm and healthy during travels
As you might know I travel quite frequently with my daughter Clementine. This week it is time again and we are off to a European city just a few hours away. I do like to write these posts because I consider myself a somewhat expert on the topic…it might also have to do with my toddler being a good companion. Though, here are some of my latest favorites that I promise will ease any anxiety you might experience. Okay so here we go. My first and most important tip is to travel business class when possible. I know this might sound a little controversial but it comes with a lot…

Oil pulling and it’s magical Benefits
Oil pulling is clearly mentioned in the classic and most esteemed textbook of Ayurveda, the Caraka Samhita. Caraka says this about oil pulling: Keeping of oil gargle provides strength in jaws and voice, development of the face, maximum taste and relish of food. One does not suffer from dryness of throat, lip cracking and teeth become firmly rooted. The teeth do not ache or become sensitive and can chew the hardest food items. Gum health has been linked to heart problems in many studies over the years which is why dentists take such care to support healthy gums. Poor gum health may allow foreign microbes to infiltrate the blood stream and…

Why are store bought ‘’normal’’ deodorants so bad for us?
Deodorants contain a myriad of unpronounceable ingredients, many of which pose serious health concerns. And putting chemicals on our skin may actually be worse than eating them, because they enter the bloodstream without any filtering. (Whereas when we eat, enzymes in the saliva and Some of the chemicals found in deodorants and antiperspirants are known endocrine disruptors – such as a class of substances called parabens (listed under the names butyl paraben, ethyl paraben, isobutyl paraben, methyl paraben, and propyl paraben). These preservatives prevent the growth of bacteria, mold and yeast, but research shows they negatively impact the body’s endocrine system and produce adverse developmental, reproductive, neurological, and immune effects. Aluminum compounds…

Minimize exposure to BPA and Phthalates
I would like to talk a little bit about BPA or Bisphenol A and Phthalates. It is a chemical that is added to many commercial products, including food containers and hygiene products. It was first discovered in the 1890s, but chemists in the 1950s realized that it could be mixed with other compounds to produce strong and resilient plastics. BPA is used in hard, clear plastic, like baby bottles. Phthalates help make plastic, like pacifiers, flexible. It is believed that both BPA and phthalates can leach from plastic into food, liquid, and directly into the mouths of children while sucking on pacifiers or teethers. These days, BPA-containing plastics are commonly…

Non-toxic essentials for your travels with the little ones
Since I’m a native Swede and Clementine’s grandparents and our families live in both Sweden and America we travel a lot and have done so since she was three weeks old. She is a sweet child but we have of course still gone through tantrums and both nights and flights with no sleep. I know that there are a lot of nervous parents out there that might be taking their child on their first flight or maybe the first flight might already have taken place and it went somewhat bad… I have therefor collected my essential items for a stress-free flight with the little ones. I hope you guys will…

Vegan, Gluten & Lactose free Carrot and Chickpea pattie
Carrot and Chickpea patties I enjoy cooking with carrots since you can do so much with them. I personally prefer them raw but it wouldn’t work to serve them that way to Clementine at the moment. This is a very easy recipe that just include a few ingredients: Carrots – about 3 or 4 medium seized Chickpeas – I used canned and if you do; about half of it is enough Coconut Oil – just a spoonful Teff flour – about ½ dl https://amzn.to/2WdSWkM Nutritional yeast – as much as you like, I usually go for a generous sprinkle https://amzn.to/2WhYZVH Lemon – a squeeze Pink salt – just a tiny…

Flor de Jamaica – the Cleansing pink drink
Flor the Jamaica or the hibiscus flower is often used to make herbal tea made as an infusion from crimson or deep magenta-coloured calyces of the Roselle flower. It has a tart, cranberry-like flavour and is as good cold as hot! I first got introduced to this beautiful drink by an architect with the name Manuel (very exentric) in Costa Rica when I lived there. He and his partner swore by this pink, cooling drink and would keep on serving it during the whole dinner. He boiled up some water on the stove and added the flowers with some agave syrup and lemon and then he would let it simmer…

The benefits of live culture
I’m lucky to be living in a such a vegan and friendly neighbourhood with lots of family’s and restaurants. I often go by the store Planet Organic that is what it sounds like; a huge store (measured in London size) full of vegan and organic products. Everything from skincare to aloe Vera plants, baby care and lots of fresh food items. They even have a restaurant and a big area where one can sit down and work or just have a coffee. The place is spacy (he-he) enough to fit some buggies. So today I went over there on my morning walk with Clementine. I had a rough night that…
